Overview

Retrieves files from the World Wide Web (WWW) using HTTP, HTTPS, and FTP. It can run in the background, recursively download directories, and resume aborted downloads.

Syntax

wget [OPTION]... [URL]...

Examples

$ wget https://example.com/file.zip

Download file.zip from the given URL.

cat

Concatenate and display file content

grep

Print lines matching a pattern

find

Search for files in a directory hierarchy

wc

Print newline, word, and byte counts for each file

date

Print or set the system date and time

uname

Print system information
