uname

Print system information

Overview

Prints certain system information. With no OPTION, same as -s (kernel name).

uname [OPTION]...

$ uname -a

Print all system information.

$ uname -r

Print kernel release.

Concatenate and display file content

Print lines matching a pattern

Search for files in a directory hierarchy

Print newline, word, and byte counts for each file

Print the groups a user is in

Print real and effective user and group IDs
